Bowen Therapy

                                $90/60min

Bowen technique is a neuromuscular therapy that is gentle enough to help new born babies to the elderly and acute injuries. It consists of small precise movements over specific muscles and tendons throughout the body. It triggers the body’s own healing mechanism by going through the autonomic nervous system, and putting the body into a relaxed state (parasympathetic state); which is where we do all of our healing. Similar to tuning a musical instrument, it sends harmonious vibrations into the nervous system and the results are a harmonious balanced body with a sense of ease and well-being. Essentially it brings the body back to its original blue print without pain.

Often what a person is experiencing or feeling is caused by something else that may be going on in the body (i.e.. an old injury, emotional trauma). A Bowen practitioner does not diagnose, rather will allow the body to communicate what is needed to heal and goes to work.

Benefits are generally felt within one to three sessions depending on the condition. Once an ailment has been helped/ healed, the results will last forever… or until reinjured. Bowen is used for pain relief and healing, and also can be used for an overall feeling of relaxation and balance throughout the entire body.

As the late Mr. Tom Bowen said, “I want to see you only if you want to see me.”

Typical Bowen Therapy Session

The basic Bowen “Move” is precise, gentle and firm. It targets specific muscles, and tendons. Using fingers and thumb, the muscle or tendon is challenged and moved in the opposite direction. The patient then will be left for 2 minutes. This allows the released energy to travel through the body fully before the next “Move” is performed.

These moves can be done over loose clothing and sometimes directly on the skin for better technique and results.

CranioSacral Therapy

                                $100/60min

Every day your body endures stresses and strains and your body absorbs them. But your body can only handle so much tension before the tissues begin to tighten and potentially affect the brain and spinal cord.

Unfortunately, this can compromise the function of the central nervous system and the performance of nearly every other system in your body.

CranioSacral therapy releases those tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self correct. Using a gentle touch, starting with about the weight of a nickel, practitioners evaluate your internal environment. Then they use distinctive light-touch techniques to release any restrictions they find.

By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best, CranioSacral Therapy naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease, and enhances your health and well-being.

CranioSacral Therapy can be effective for all ages, from newborns to elders.

Typical CranioSacral Session

A typical CranioSacral Therapy session takes place in a quiet, private setting. You remain clothed as you relax on a comfortable padded table.

Your therapist begins by gently touching various parts of your body to monitor the rhythm of the fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system.

By carefully listening with the hands to locate areas of weak fluid flow or tissue motion, your practitioner can trace those areas of weakness through the body to the original source of dysfunction.

Delicate manual techniques are then used to release those problem areas and improve the form and function of your central nervous system.

A CranioSacral Therapy session can last up to an hour or more. It can be used alone or integrated with other therapies to create powerful effects.

What your experience from your own session is highly individual. The sessions are generally deeply relaxing, creating feelings of warmth and gentle pulsing in the areas the therapist is working on.

Conditions CranioSacral Therapy can help:

  • Migraines and headaches
  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Stress and tension related disorders
  • Motor coordination impairments
  • Infant and childhood disorders
  • Brain and spinal cord injuries
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • TMJ Syndrome
  • Scoliosis
  • Central nervous system disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Orthopedic problems
  • And many others

Watsu

                                $150/60min

For centuries the theraputic benefits of water have been keenly observed.

Watsu uses these benefits, combined with the healing practises of modern day massage, to manipulate the spine, jonts and muscles in ways not possible on land.

Working in harmonious practise with controlled breathing, Watsu enables a deep sense of relaxation to promote the natural regeneration of the mind and body. Your parasympathetic system, (which calms the body and mind) is stimulated through Watsu to restore energy levels, lower blood pressure, release endorphins, boost your immune system and stimulate the disgestive system to reduce feelings of sadness and depression, and help alliviate stress.

Because you are weightless while in water, this practise can help to decrease muscle tension, increase range of motion, aid in flexibility and improve sleep by decreasing anxiety levels and emotional pains.

Types of water therapy are being used in clinics and hospitals as rehabilitation therapies around the world for ailments such as:

Typical Session of Watsu

Each session will take a good hour to complete. A health history questionnaire may be completed and a range of movement tests may be undertaken in cases of restricted mobile prior to your session of avoid injury.

Your practitioner may opt for the aid of small floats to prevent your legs from sinking during the sessions and to help you further relax and enjoy the process.

Your head and lower back or knees will be supported by your practitioner as they gently guide you through the water in a continuous and flowing motion. They may add a series of stretches, massage and point work as needed to remove tension and relax muscles.

Some patients drift off to sleep while others are completely aware of everything during a sesson – either is fine as there is no right or wrong way to experience Watsu.

Once the session has concluded, your practitioner will guide you to an upright positin and support you until you are able to do so on your own. You may sit quietly or float in the pool a few moments on your own.

Be sure to have some time to rest after tour session rather than rush off to work so you can enjoy the full benefits of your session. Be sure to drink lots of water.

Wellness Massage

           $100/60min  $140/90min   $150/Hot stone

Classic full-body massage is typically performed in sessions lasting from 30 minutes to 1 hour. These sessions are generally wellness-oriented. Their purpose is to improve circulation, relax the muscles, improve joint mobility, induce general relaxation. Promote healthy skin, and create a general sense of well-being.

A classic full-body massage usually includes all the classic massage techniques, some touch without movement, and passive movements. Oil, lotion, or other lubricant is used. Although each practitioner combines and blends various massage techniques in different ways, there are some general guidelines for giving a full-body massage. These guidelines address draping, sequence of body parts, order of techniques, continuity, rhythm, pacing, and specificity.
